Michael Hussey, CEO of StatSocial, says there are many startups surfacing that are focused on helping brands curate and grow dedicated communities. “Creating brand loyalty programs is nothing new and they have a long proven track record. Leveraging the members of a loyalty program to promote the brand and drive new sales makes some sense,” he says. “It’s probably not a coincidence that there is a lot of capital being invested in this idea, so it is safe to assume a lot of brands and marketers are excited about the opportunities.”

There seems to be a fundamental disconnect about why people use social networks. The CEO of Bubblews (Arvind Dixit) says, “People aren’t the product, people are the power.” I think he’s wrong. People and the lives they share with their networks are indeed the product. The power is in the platform that enables it all.

Facebook and Twitter are successful at selling advertising because they are incredibly powerful communications tools that people want to use — not vice-versa. The primary reason people use these networks is not to make money — it’s to make their lives more enjoyable and efficient

MediaPost: StatSocial Names The Top 100 Social Media Power Influencers For 2015

We were featured on MediaPost for our 3rd Social Media Power Influencers list curated by Haydn Shaughnessy.

This year, we were able not only to look at our Pull metric, which measures second degree connections, but also the audience of each influencer. We then ranked the influencers by the audience they reach-their interest in social media, technology, and advertising/marketing.
